Zhejiang Yi Jin Textile Co., Ltd., a large-scale textile manufacturer specializing in jacquard fabrics, has made a strategic shift from conventional products to “high, fine, and small” orders. According to company officials, their main target is high-end domestic and international brand clothing companies. To support this transition, they established a new product development center and a dedicated brand department, with specialized staff managing brand apparel business. They closely collaborate with fashion companies, research new trends, and develop fabrics that are well-received by both domestic and global brands. “Small orders don’t mean low value,” said an official. “In the past, we would handle tens of thousands or even hundreds of thousands of meters per order, but the profit was only a few cents. Now, even though the quantity is small, the price is high, and once a new fabric is successfully developed, it can be recommended to multiple companies, leading to substantial total sales.” Lee Sing Textile, a textile trading company based in Keqiao, has also shifted its focus to the domestic market. Its main clients are now domestic apparel companies. In the past year, although the company didn’t receive any major foreign orders, it secured several small deals with fashion houses in Shanghai and Ningbo, and overall profitability remained strong. An industry source noted that while small orders may seem less attractive to large companies due to higher technical requirements and lower volume, they offer great opportunities for small and medium-sized enterprises. Once a fabric is selected by a fashion house, there's a high chance other companies will follow. Some fashion houses even entrust slightly larger orders to companies they trust, provided they meet special requirements. Thus, if a company can supply multiple fixed apparel companies, it can build a stable and profitable business. The trend shows that small orders, when managed well, can be a powerful driver of growth in the current textile market.
