China is a big country for garment production and export, and Japan is an important market for clothing exports in China. In recent years, the Japanese market has increasingly attached importance to the certification of clothing. In view of this, we now introduce the following common certification tests for garments exported to Japan:

The verification test of the needle detection mark Due to poor management in the production process, there are often broken needles (including needles, pins, etc.) in clothing and other quilting products. In the 1980s, consumer injuries caused by broken needles in garments occurred frequently, which prompted the Japanese government to enact laws and regulations on the protection of consumer rights in order to strengthen the control of broken needles. According to Japanese regulations, if there are broken needles in the products that are produced or distributed, their producers and sellers will be subject to heavy penalties, and compensation will be paid to consumers if they cause harm. In order to avoid economic losses due to broken needles, Japanese clothing importers not only require manufacturers to conduct needle inspections prior to shipment, but also set up inspection factories to conduct needle inspections. For products that pass the inspection needle, hang or attach the needle mark.

"Q" Marked Certification Test The "Q" (Quality) mark is Japan's premium product mark. The management of this mark is carried out in accordance with the relevant rules of the “Q” mark management committee. The inspection of the product is performed by an impartial third party (inspection agency) with extensive experience in the inspection of textile products. Only products with a quality above a certain standard can be marked with "Q". The contents of the “Q” mark certification inspection mainly include whether the fabric has flaws, cutting, sewing, auxiliary materials and finishing are in good size inspection, inspection according to JIS specifications, products that are not in JIS specifications are checked by markings, performance inspection, inspection of the color of the fabrics Degree and wash size change; processing agent inspection, check for harmful chemicals; marking inspection, according to the household goods quality mark method to check whether the mark and its content is appropriate.

At present, only “ramie” and “flax” are used to mark the garments. The certification inspection standard of the mark also stipulates the standard of mixing proportions.

SIF Marked Certification Inspection The SIF Marking is a mark approved by the Ministry of Trade and Industry of Japan, which is the comprehensive inspection organization responsible for clothing testing and inspection, the Sewing Inspection Association, to approve products conforming to the Association's standards. SIF sends inspection personnel with professional knowledge to go to the factory to inspect the cut, sewing, finishing, and quality of the finished products, check the marks according to the quality marking method of the household products, and follow the inspection results to guide the relevant quality management of the sewing process. Recognize good products and allow the use of SIF tags. SIF has its own quality standards and inspection standards. The main contents of certification inspection are: appearance inspection, including marking, appearance; washing resistance, including practical washing performance, appearance after washing, wrinkling, washing shrinkage, and resistance to dry cleaning; Color fastness test; physical property test, including breaking strength, tear strength, burst strength, shrinkage, pilling, fluffing; residual formaldehyde, sewing strength, sewing slippage resistance test, etc.; performance of accessories.

In addition to the above-mentioned several kinds of certification tests, the clothing exported to Japan includes: wool mark certification inspection and Oko-Tex Standard100 label certification inspection. The pure wool mark is a mark owned by the International Wool Bureau. At present, the wool products owned by the International Wool Bureau are marked with “pure wool mark”, “high proportion blended mark”, and “wool blended mark”. In addition to the wool content, the products of the above three types of marks have the same standard. Only the products whose quality fully meets the quality requirements of the International Wool Bureau can use the Woolmark. The wool fibre content of various wool labels is: the use of pure wool mark requires not less than 93% of pure new wool; the use of high proportion blended marks, the wool content shall not be less than 50%; the use of wool blended marks requires that the wool content be between 30% to Between 50%.
